Dr. Carmen Paniagua, EdD, MSN, CPC, APRN, CNP, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, APNG-BC, FAANP

Dr. Paniagua is an Instructor at the College of Medicine with secondary appointment with the College of Health Related Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS). In addition, she holds another appointment as Associate Professor at the School of Nursing Medical Science Campus University of Puerto Rico.

She is a former Adult-Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program Specialty Coordinator. In addition, she completed a Post-Doctoral Traineeship at the National Health of Institutes (NIH) in Bethesda, MD in Molecular Genetics and another one in Interventional Pain Management in Puerto Rico. One of her main focuses has been integrating genomics, cultural diversity and health care disparities into nursing and medical curriculum. She serves as a Commissioner for the Arkansas Health Minority Commission for her second term and to the Arkansas Governor Hispanic Advisory Committee.

Dr. Paniagua practices at Gastroenterology of Southeast of Arkansas, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Emergency Department, and the Westside Charity Hispanic Clinic and with Adult Genetics. She also conducts clinical/education research. She has developed an online clinical genetics course and cultural diversity modules; collaborate with multiple health care providers; served as consultant for various hospitals, and presented research and other topics at the local, state, national and international level.
